Students for Life at FIU

What inspired you to start this business?

More than 56,000 students attend Florida International University in bustling Miami, Florida. Until recently, out of over 400 registered student organizations on campus, there was no organization solely dedicated to pro-life issues - until, in January 2023, a small group of students formed a Students for Life chapter at FIU. Students for Life of America is a national organization that equips students to stand up for life, make lasting change on campuses, and support women in their community. There are over 1,400 student groups across the country, serving middle schools, high schools, and universities in every state. Since our humble beginnings, SFL @FIU has grown enormously to reach over 125 members in just 11 months.

How does your faith shape your work?

Providing free diapers, wipes, baby formula, and other items is a practical, yet important step in the fight against abortion, the greatest evil of our time.

What's one thing you'd like customers to know?

We are very active on campus, tabling weekly, collecting donations for pregnancy resource centers, hosting guest speakers, attending political rallies, and more. Our pro-life initiatives have even attracted the attention of The Rolling Stone, Students for Life of America’s blog, and local news channels. But by far our proudest accomplishment is the student baby supply pantry started in September 2023. As an initiative of Standing with You, a Students for Life program dedicated to helping women in need, we hope the pantry alleviates the financial burden that often comes with being a new mom in school. One of the most common reasons for justifying abortion is the economic hardship young parents face. Providing these supplies on campus also helps destigmatize being a young, single mom in college, another reason that pushes women to turn to abortion.
