ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Greenwich Creek Capital Management is a Registered Investment Adviser in the state of Connecticut. We actively manage small and large investment portfolios using currencies, bonds, stocks, and commodities. My story is simple: In August 2008, I opened the company to apply a quantitative, proprietary risk management strategy that helped me successfully navigate the internet bubble (2000/2003) while completely avoiding the mortgage crisis (2007/2010) and every cyclical bear market since. It took me 15 years of practice and tests with my own capital to develop the risk management strategy. Every day, I try to put my God-given talents to work by helping others through my 40 years of experience investing in financial markets. This is the easy part of my daily routine. The difficult part is making sure my children and grandchildren will go to heaven whenever God calls them. My wife and I try hard by following the Ten Commandments, practicing the Catholic Virtues, praying the Rosary daily, and attending Mass, even daily Mass when it is possible.

MEET THE OWNER

What inspired you to start this business?

The ability to develop a risk management process, which is impossible, came from me alone.

How does your faith shape your work?

After having it, all of a sudden I didn't have it anymore. Instead of embracing darkness, I embraced faith, hope, and virtues, mainly perseverance, patience, and fortitude.

What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?

Every day I pray to the Virgin Mary and St. Michael the Archangel. My favorite scripture is The Parable of the Talents, Matthew 25 14:30. My preferred book: Abandonment to Divine Providence, by Fr. Jean Pierre de Caussade

What's one thing you'd like customers to know?

Our business is to manage investment portfolios actively, and our goal is to capitalize on upward market trends and safeguard investments during downward market trends. Using our proprietary quantitative risk management process, we first determine the main trend of financial markets to position portfolios in the same direction as the main trend, never in the opposite direction of the trend. At the beginning of a new relationship, as you would expect, clients are nervous if the stock market is experiencing volatility. However, as time goes by and they get accustomed to see little or manageable change in the net value of their accounts during bear market cycles, they become very calm and relaxed. Giving them peace of mind in terms of their investment portfolios is our goal. This is the impact we see across the board, not just on one or two clients.

DEVOTIONAL

From St. Teresa of Avila: “All that passes away and is not pleasing to God, is worth nothing, and less than nothing.”

Now do you understand why a soul loses all sense of peace and serenity when it turns away from its goal, and forgets that it was created by God to be a saint? Strive never to lose this supernatural outlook, not even at times of rest or recreation, which are as important in our daily lives as work itself. You can climb to the top of your profession, and you can gain the highest acclaim as a reward for your freely chosen endeavors in temporal affairs; but if you abandon the supernatural outlook that should inspire all our human activities, you will have gone sadly astray. From Jose Maria Escriva, Friends of God, page 12
