What inspired you to start this business?
The Lindsays had a calling of the heart!
How does your faith shape your work?
Our moms start each day with group devotional prayer before they set out to work or to class. We are Christian based but accept all denominations.
What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?
"St. Mary. O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers facing difficulties. Guide us as we strive to make our communities a places of welcome, a safe, caring and supportive network that provides assistance for mothers in need. Help us become instruments of God's love and compassion. Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator of life."
What's one thing you'd like customers to know?
We are a Christian, transitional home for pregnant women and their babies who are currently experiencing homelessness. We help the women to a life of self-sufficiency with dignity for themselves and their babies. Once back on their feet, they transition to our "Women in Transition" program where we continue to assist the mother and baby once they have moved out on their own. One of our success stories is Ana. Ana was from a broken home and had only met her father. She was one of six children who moved from shelter to shelter. Despite those beginnings, she graduated from high school and went on to college. Because of her poor relationship with her father, she chose men that were physically and mentally abusive. At 30, she found herself pregnant and when she saw the fathers reaction to the news, decided she needed to get out of this bad situation. She began to seek shelters and found Mary's Home. The next day she had an interview and was accepted into the care and safety of Mary's Home. She began our financial counseling, parenting classes, mental health counseling, budgeting, and of course caring for their infant with doctors, dentists and healthy nutrition.
