ABOUT THE BUSINESS
MEET THE OWNER
What inspired you to start this business?
After discerning out of a religious vocation in 2017, Sam Estrada began a 5-month “prayer project” asking Our Lady of Fatima for vocational clarity. After a series of miraculous meetings and events, the first graphic novel on Our Lady of Fatima was published in October of the same year. Since then, Sam has founded Prostrada Catholic Illustrations and has published over 6 faith-based children’s books. These publications have become most popular in the United States, Portugal, and Australia.
How does your faith shape your work?
As Catholics, we are called to use our talents to not only evangelize, but to catechize our readers of the Faith. We understand that the world offers young people so much media that causes temptation and exalts a sinful lifestyle. Our goal is to tell the stories of the saints in an attractive way so that they not only learn about holy people, but will strive for holiness themselves.
What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?
St. Maximilian Kolbe, Consecration to St. Joseph, (Luke 18:17) "Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."
What's one thing you'd like customers to know?
Prostrada Catholic Illustrations provides illustrations for Catholic, Christian, and self-publishers. Among our biggest clients are Tan Books, Marian Press, Holy Heroes, and Virtutibus. Many of our readers have stories that our graphic novels have attracted not only teenagers, but young adults as well. One particular group of young adults, after reading about how the shepherd children of Fatima offered sacrifices for the conversion of souls, immediately started cleaning up trash around the church grounds. After reading the book, “Super J and the Power of Love,” a young pregnant woman wept and decided to keep her baby, even when doctors advised otherwise.
