Mastic Media

What inspired you to start this business?

Before I founded Mastic in 2014, I was working in ministry for the archdiocese in my hometown. I experienced that there was a gap in tech literacy, and a minimal understanding on how media and marketing could be utilized to share the Gospel. Though technology was already the language of the whole world, many in the church were late adopters to how technology, marketing, and media in conjunction could be used to support Catholic ministries and connect with more people. It would become impossible to reach the world when we do not speak their language. This is how Mastic was born, a digital consultancy, to help Catholic organizations with great missions incorporate engaging media, impactful marketing, and digital technology that works with them, to support and advance their existing efforts. We help great organizations have a positive impact, a magnanimous witness, and bring glory to God.

How does your faith shape your work?

Everything, my faith is everything. The reason, inspiration, and foundation of our work. Without it, it is pointless otherwise.

What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?

St. Carlo Acutis, the first Millennial Saint, a great example on how technology when used for God’s glory is not an obstacle to holiness. Isaiah 43:1-5

What's one thing you'd like customers to know?

“Magnanimity by its very name denotes stretching forth the soul to great things.” St. Thomas Aquinas At Mastic, we have a strong dedication to magnanimity in the work we do. We give God the praise and glory He is due when we give the best of our ability, not out of selfish pursuit or wanting praise on our accomplishments, but out of love for our Lord. Magnanimity, an often-underutilized virtue, is truly needed from Catholics in our world today. Too often we encounter poorly done work being confused with humility, that somehow putting in less effort is the humbler act, but not giving God our best in all that we do is a lack of love. As my Dominican mom would tell me, “Luis, do the best.”
