What inspired you to start this business?

For most employers, navigating the chaos of Employee Benefits and rising healthcare costs can be complex and daunting. Their frustration is further increased by the insurance carrier's refusal to comply with the teachings of their Catholic Faith and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare (ERDs). NOVUS United Catholic Benefits stands as a beacon for Catholic organizations and Catholic-owned businesses, offering a healthcare and benefits plan that fully complies with the teachings of the Catholic Church. We are a 501(c)(3) ERISA-Exempt Church Plan listed in the Official Catholic Directory, The Kennedy Directory. Our experience and innovation can help employer groups save on their healthcare costs, increase employee health & wellbeing, and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Faith. 

How does your faith shape your work?

The role of my Catholic faith in the daily operation of NOVUS cannot be overstated. My faith centers on Catholic social teaching, which emphasizes ethical conduct, human dignity, community service and solidarity. The team at NOVUS integrates our faith into everything we do, providing a moral framework for our business decisions. We truly believe that the Holy Spirit is working through us and with the protection of our Blessed Mother we can achieve any goal.

What's one thing you'd like customers to know?

Initially a Diocesan Church plan, our Bishop was driven by the fact that smaller Catholic organizations are unable to offer healthcare benefits that align with their faith, the sanctity of human life, and the teachings of the Church. Discovering a small Catholic Monastery in our Diocese, we learned that their premium dollars paid to their carrier funded services and procedures that were objectional to the doctrine of the Catholic Faith. Because of their smaller size, they were forced into a healthcare plan that paid for services and procedures that flew in the very face of the Catholic Church. They were our inspiration to create NOVUS. They joined our Church plan in 2016 and became a Holy inspiration to take NOVUS nationwide.
