ABOUT THE BUSINESS

Pearl & Thistle equips Catholic families and communities with age-appropriate, faith-rooted education on the body, fertility, and menstrual cycles—integrating theology and science to build lifelong body literacy. We do this through workshops, courses, books, and resources that serve parents, couples, communities, and educators.

MEET THE OWNER

What inspired you to start this business?

I began as an NFP instructor, but soon realized the need for better age-appropriate body literacy education in the Church. Our offerings have grown over the years to meet the expressed needs of women, couples, families, parishes, and schools in bringing menstrual cycle and fertility education to the Church.

How does your faith shape your work?

I am heavily influenced by JPII's work on the Theology of the Body— specifically as it relates to the biological function of our bodies, and how that shapes our experience of self, God, and others.

What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?

St. Margaret of Scotland is the "Pearl" in Pearl & Thistle! She is my many-times-great-grandmother and has been a special patroness of mine for many years.

What's one thing you'd like customers to know?

We form individuals, couples, and families by integrating practical science-based education about menstrual cycles and fertility with Catholic theology, so they see understand the goodness and dignity of the body—even when that can be difficult! Knowledge has the potential to lead to love! Our website is full of testimonials of parents, women, couples, and communities that have not only gained important education about this unique function of the female body— but whose relationships with their own bodies, with one another, and with God have grown as a result.
