What inspired you to start this business?

Gandalf said, “The rule of no realm is mine…But all worthy things that are in peril as the world now stands, these are my care. And for my part, I shall not wholly fail of my task…For I also am a steward.” (A minor inspiration) Very specifically, as a headmaster at a Chesterton Academy, I went up one summer to Wyoming Catholic College for the experiential outdoor leadership program to bring back ideas from the school to help teenagers grown in self-leadership, responsibility, etc. During this experience I was really impressed by how the college students could keep people safe, keep them engaged socially and spiritually, keep them ordered towards daily goals … and also observed their willingness to serve as both a cheerful leader to a cheerful follower and supporter It was out of these observations that I was inspired to start a recruiting company and create coaching and training and experiential programs that can help those individuals recruited develop these habits that are so needed in the workplace and become true Servant Leaders possessing both Grit & Polish.

How does your faith shape your work?

- Saint John Paul II (his vision of the human person, of work, and of the church and the Kingdom) - Devotion: Liturgy of the Hours – especially the intercessory prayers for the morning and night. - Psalm 139, Psalm 19. So many – those that describe the radiance of God and His creation. --> Thomas Aquinas defines beauty as wholeness, harmony and radiance. The radiance in God’s creation ...The top of La Sagreta Familial has one section where the wheat sheaves become the Eucharist, and there is a chalice embedded in grapes. What I love about this world, life and human flourishing is that we get to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in the beauty of creation in what we create as human beings in community.

What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?

It is the underpinning. We are a recruiting, coaching, and consulting business, but really the ultimate purpose is to build the kingdom and authentic human flourishing. We seek the wisdom that is provided by revelation and reason, applied to the common organizational sense. The motivating factor is to provide value for our clients. We strive to grow those who grow the kingdom, and care deeply about the dignity of the human person. We are always looking for Holy Moxy for ourselves, and those we serve.

What's one thing you'd like customers to know?

We help our clients by helping them find mission-fit people who are team builders who want to grow. We do that in three ways 1. Recruiting (finding the person) 2. Adding coaching that helps them thrive and flourish (It raises their floor and ceiling as they transition in a new job which is a stressful job) 3. Our consulting services really revolve around two things: A comprehensive view of how to retain employees, and how to build good teams. We accomplish this by offering a consultative coaching & training program that helps managers and leaders grow. We have a board of advisors who can weigh in on HR functions, how meetings are run, reporting structures, etc. with a focus on retention and human flourishing in both non-profit and for-profit businesses. An example of our fulfilling our mission: A board chair at Emmaus Catholic Hospice recently shared with us their gratitude for our service for them. Specifically, the CEO expressed thanks for bringing them employees who are professional competent whose hearts are truly in the mission of the hospice, and who aspire to work well within the existing team. FOCUS has said we are the only outside agency that has been able to help them hire externally and bring in people who work well in their organization, because we “get who they are, and what they are aiming towards” Chris Stefanick, as a business owner, has said of us, “Sól is thinking about your needs even when you aren’t!” CEO of Anchor Group said of one of our trainings, “It was the single best professional development they’ve had since their e-commerce company started.” We are particularly helpful with scaling organizations that are growing. We are particularly skilled at vetting for people who can grasp a mission quickly and work well with others, and for companies that are experiencing a turnaround.
