What inspired you to start this business?
My third child had such a significant speech delay, we started looking into community supports and speech devices. I was appalled at the lack of community, support, and education available for parents of kids with late talkers. It felt like a hole in the system and I decided to fix it by learning how to move my speech therapy services online to help large groups of families instead of just one person at a time.
How does your faith shape your work?
My business model is frowned upon by many. I am told by everyone that my prices are too low and not sustainable. I have full trust in the Holy Spirit and I'm following what I'm told to do, even if it makes no sense on paper. I lead and coach families prioritizing respect, honesty, and ethical decision making. I refuse to include vocabulary, topics, and parenting choices that are of this world in my materials and resources. I talk to Mother Mary often asking her to help guide those mothers who need me to my little space of the internet.
What's a favorite patron saint or scripture?
You know well enough that Our Lord does not look so much at the greatness of our actions, nor even at their difficulty, but at the love with which we do them. -St. Therese of Lisieux
What's one thing you'd like customers to know?
I am a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and feeding therapist. I create online resources, workshops, and materials so parents can help their children with late talkers and speech delays at home. No matter if they are in speech already, waiting for a spot to open, or were denied early intervention services; if you want to help your child I have resources and support available. My greatest impact is when I get to help a family that has been denied early intervention because the delay is "just speech", they can't afford speech therapy, and insurance has denied treatment because it's "just a delay". The family is desperate to help their child who is usually frustrated and throwing a lot of tantrums. I get to step in, no matter where they are in the world, and provide not only resources and support but also hope. To watch a family move from frustrated, desperate, and hopeless to joyful and thriving is the greatest gift. There's nothing better than watching them talk to their child who now has a voice and a say within the family system.
