Gray moonstone is a quiet material — milky and translucent at rest, then suddenly luminous when light crosses it, shifting with a soft, floating sheen. Paired here with warm 8 mm graywood Hail Mary beads, the effect is contemplative: cool mist and old timber, silver-gray against honey-brown.
Every rosary I make begins at the bead table — sorting strands for sheen and grain, matching accents, and settling the colorway before a single knot is tied. Each decade is then strung on durable black micro cord and knotted by hand between all 59 beads, a slow and deliberate process that gives the strand its shape and means it won't shed beads even if the cord is ever compromised. Ornate bronze-tone bead caps frame each moonstone Our Father bead, echoing the metalwork of the findings.
At the heart of the strand sits a 27×17 mm oval Sacred Heart centerpiece with an antique brass finish — the radiant heart of Christ framed in scrollwork, one of the most beloved devotional images in Catholic tradition.
The crucifix is a magnificent Italian-made 5-way design, 2-1/4 inches high with a bronze finish. Six devotions meet in a single cross: the Eucharist at the center, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Christ crucified, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and a guardian angel — each rendered in fine relief, the kind of casting Italy's liturgical metalsmiths are famous for. It has real weight and presence in the hand, and it rewards a closer look every time you pick it up.
